David C Hogg, P.Eng., Dip T EE, BASc EE, Founder, Lean Consortia

Dave, a graduate of electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, began his career in aerospace design & development engineering with Westinghouse in Hamilton. Later, Dave drew on his diverse manufacturing, education, & business background in the aftermath of the 1981-83 recession to lead the evolution of the Lean manufacturing consortia movement, described by the Sloan Management Review in 1998 as Leveraged Learning Networks. In 2000, he and his business partner Robert Kerr founded HPS Inc. to establish consortia from coast-to-coast in Canada, with extensions into the US and Australia.  At the 27th Annual International Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) Conference in Dallas in 2011, Dave was inducted into the AME excellence Hall of Fame, which recognizes international manufacturing leaders.  He chaired the 2008 AME international conference in Toronto and later the 2012 Sustainability Conference as he believes lean and green are seamless.  In 2017 he was awarded the Manitoba CME Lifetime Achievement Award.
